MenuScout Privacy Policy

MenuScout (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
1. Data We Collect
- Account information: Email address and password (stored as a secure hash) when you create an account.
- Menu photos: Images you capture or share to analyze menus. These are transmitted to our AI provider for analysis.
- Health goals and dietary restrictions: Preferences you set (e.g., high protein, gluten-free) to personalize scan results.
- Scan history: Results from previous menu scans, including item scores and nutrition estimates.
- Subscription and payment data: Subscription status managed via RevenueCat. We do not store credit card numbers directly.
- Usage data: App interactions such as screens visited and features used, collected anonymously to improve the service.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To analyze menu photos and return health scores, nutrition estimates, and allergen information.
- To personalize results based on your stated health goals and dietary restrictions.
- To store your scan history so you can review past analyses.
- To manage your subscription and process payments.
- To improve our AI models and service quality (using anonymized, aggregated data only).
- To send transactional emails (e.g., account verification, password reset). We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
3. Third-Party Services
- Anthropic: Menu photos are sent to Anthropic’s Claude AI for analysis. Anthropic’s privacy policy applies to this processing: anthropic.com/privacy
- RevenueCat: Manages in-app subscription state and purchase verification. See revenuecat.com/privacy
- Apple / Google: In-app purchases are processed through the App Store and Google Play. Their respective privacy policies apply.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account data and scan history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data — including scan history, health goals, and profile information — is permanently deleted within 30 days.
Menu photos are not retained on our servers after analysis is complete. They are transmitted to Anthropic for processing and are not stored by MenuScout.
5. Data Deletion Requests
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing privacy@menuscout.app or using the “Delete Account” option within the app settings.
6. Children’s Privacy
MenuScout is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above and notify you via email or in-app notification if the changes are significant.
